WHITE WAVE announces its 6th Annual WAVE RISING SERIES, New York City’s only rising contemporary dancemakers festival, giving 24 companies rare opportunities to present full-length programs in the dance capital of the world. The SERIES spotlights talented dancemakers from all across the United States and beyond. Channel 13 Sunday Arts has praised the SERIES, highlighting it as a “renowned” production featuring an “eclectic range of dance companies.” The New York Times stated that the SERIES presents “a broad variety of work. Tickets are cheap and dancing plentiful, it’s a good mix.” This year, two stellar companies from Korea, Chang Yoo Kyung Dance Company of Daegu and Kim Yun-jung/YJK Dance Project of Seoul/ Germany as well as Korean-born choreographer Eun Jung Choi and her Da.Da. Dance Project (Philadelphia) will all present work in the SERIES. These artists will be joined by other rising and world-renowned dance companies from New York, California, Vermont, and Israel. This year WHITE WAVE also introduces all-day Wednesday master class/workshops for students and professional dancers in contemporary technique, partnering, or repertoire, taught by choreographers who are presenting in this year’s Series.
