DORAN: Encounters is a curated showcasing that explores the beauty and creative potential of Korean traditional craftsmanship through a contemporary lens.
Co-presented by the Korean Cultural Center New York and HAOR, the exhibition brings together artists and designers who reinterpret the essence of Korean tradition in dialogue with modern forms and materials. Visitors are invited to experience how timeless aesthetics rooted in heritage continue to inspire new expressions today.
Set within the cultural and artistic landscape of New York City, this program creates a space where Korea’s artisanal traditions encounter the city’s dynamic creative energy. Through these quiet yet meaningful encounters, DORAN (‘도란’) seeks to open a gentle conversation — one that reflects on how tradition and modernity coexist and evolve together.
“DORAN (‘도란’): a Korean word describing a warm and intimate conversation shared softly between people.”

“WE INTRODUCE THE VALUE AND THE BEAUTY OF OUR CULTURE IN OUWR'S WAY.”
오우르 OUWR is a pattern design brand where we melt our own designed patterns into fashion and lifestyle objects. Inspired by Korean tradition and beauty, ‘Mi[美]’, we create new patterns with modern and unique interpretations. Through OUWR’s patterns, we want to communicate with people by emphasizing our thoughts and goals in a powerful, effective way.
All of the design elements of OUWR start from the love and deep affection of our traditional Korean culture.
As a rising generation who lives in the present age, we want to create a new “Tradition Culture" by inheriting the value of our culture and continuing it with our own interpretation and style.
