To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Korean National Liberation, the Korean Cultural Center New York presents a showcase of Seoul superstars, featuring a golden legend of Korean pop and a group of K-rock's newest standard bearers.

The night kicks off with the American debut of the co-ed quintet TOUCHED. The band's guitar heavy and emotionally expansive songs have propelled them to success on both international festival stages and music competition programs, with lead singer Yunmin winning a record number of victories on the influential reality show, King of Mask Singer.

We continue with a NYC debut from the Kim Changwan Band, a pivotal figure in pioneering K-funk rock. A radio veteran who established himself with a string of successful albums through the 1970s and 1980s with his band Sanulrim, Changwan has since become one of the most famous faces in his home country as a prolific actor and author. His latest release includes duets with Changbin of Stray Kids and Lim Kim.

The concert will also showcase Korean rock band Monday Feeling's vocalist/songwriter, IAN. The band has firmly established itself in Korea’s rock scene, performing at numerous major rock festivals and concerts nationwide. In 2018, they successfully completed their first U.S. tour in West Hollywood, appearing at iconic venues including Whisky a Go Go, The Viper Room, and Rainbow Bar & Grill.

K-Music Night is presented by the Korean Cultural Center New York in collaboration with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the Korea Creative Content Agency New York Center, as part of Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City. The event is supported by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, with international relations coordinated by Yellowbomb.

South Korea’s Kim Changwan Band is a formidable presence in the world of rock music, known for their distinctive fusion of alternative rock, emotional depth, and musical craftsmanship

▲ Kim Changwan Band

Formed in 2008, the band is led by the legendary Kim Changwan—a true renaissance figure in Korean culture, celebrated as a musician, actor, radio DJ, writer, and painter. Alongside him are Lee Sanghoon (keyboard), Choi Wonsik (bass), Kang Yoongi (drums), and Yeom Minyeol (guitar).

Building on the iconic legacy of Sanulrim, Kim Changwan’s groundbreaking band from the late 20th century, Kim Changwan Band carries the torch into the modern era. For over 16 years, they have continued to reinterpret Sanulrim’s classic tracks while developing an original sound that bridges generations. Their music effortlessly shifts between powerful rock anthems and reflective ballads, blending raw energy with melodic nuance.

What sets Kim Changwan Band apart is their ability to infuse every performance and composition with emotional resonance. Their lyrics explore themes of love, sorrow, and introspection, inviting listeners into a sonic journey of self-discovery. Their sound is enriched by intricate guitar work, pulsing basslines, and commanding drums—all wrapped around Kim Changwan’s evocative voice.

Renowned for electrifying live shows and meaningful collaborations with artists like IU, Jannabi, and Stray Kids, the band remains a vital and evolving force in Korean rock. In a world full of fleeting trends, Kim Changwan Band stands tall—timeless, genre-defying, and profoundly human.

TOUCHED is a four member mixed band consisting of Yunmin (vocals & guitar), Kim Seungbin (drums), John B. Kim (bass), and Chea Dohyeon (keyboard).

They began their career by winning the grand prize at the 31st Yoo Jae-ha Music Contest. Following this achievement, they proved their popularity and talent by consecutively winning competitions such as the Gyeonggi Content Agency's “Indistance,” “Find the Rising Star,” and the “National Band Competition.”

In 2022, they appeared on M.net’s band survival program “Great Seoul Invasion,” where they delivered impressive performances every episode and ultimately won the competition, creating a sensation.

Their song “Highlight,” performed during the second-round stage, gained explosive popularity upon airing and became their signature track. Inspired by this iconic song, they launched an annual brand concert series under the same name.

Since 2023, they have been dominating various festival stages and were recognized as the “Best Rookie” at the 2023 Beautiful Mint Life festival.
