TV writer Kayla Park finally has a chance to make it in Hollywood, but then the 1992 L.A. Riots erupt. In the chaos, her father is shot by an African American gang and his store is destroyed. Devastated, Kayla is forced to make difficult decisions for her future and her family’s. Strangers In America dramatizes how a Korean American family survives trauma and forges new relationships with their African American neighbors.
