Columbia Artists Management LLC and the Warsaw Philharmonic announce 2015 Chopin International Piano Competition First Prize winner, Seong-Jin Cho, will perform as soloist for the Orchestra’s 2016 U.S. Tour.
For over 100 years, the Warsaw Philharmonic has been one of Poland's most distinguished musical institutions. They will embark on their 4th U.S. national tour in the 2016-2017 season following highly successful U.S. national tours in 2004, 2008 and 2012. This will be the first U.S. tour for the Warsaw Philharmonic with their Music and Artistic Director, Jacek Kaspszyk, who was appointed in September 2013.
Mr. Seong-Jin Cho, a native of Seoul, South Korea, garnered world attention in October, 2015, when he won First Prize at the renowned Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. Still in his early twenties, Mr. Cho has rapidly embarked on a world-class career. After having collected prizes at the prestigious Tchaikovsky competition, Moscow International Chopin Competition and, as the youngest first prize winner, Hamamatsu International Competition (Japan), Mr. Cho now has the full attention of the international music scene signaled by a best-selling Deutche Grammophon international CD release of his Warsaw Chopin Competition performances.
In keeping with its well-established international touring tradition, the Warsaw Philharmonic, under the direction of Music and Artistic Director, Jacek Kaspszyk, will return to the United States for a coast-to-coast-tour thirteen-city tour, October 21 – November 7, 2016. This tour will mark Mr. Seong-Jin Cho’s United States Concert debut.
Among his featured repertoire, he will perform the famous Chopin, Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 11, E minor, which is the center piece of his Warsaw victory.
