THE SELECTS X CAVA LIFE Debut "Covered"

A Capsule Collection and Installation

NOVEMBER 4 - 22, 2019

THE SELECTS
(62 GREENE STREET, NEW YORK, NY )

The Selects’ roster of talent of ten up-and-coming Korean fashion designers, as well as a selection of emerging artists represented by CAVA, an art commerce group the supports young Korean artists, have created a capsule of unique items that thoughtfully explore the concept of packaging -- or “covering” -- and the social and environmental impact of both the materials and the process.

On November 4th, the installation debuting the capsule will launch via a private cocktail reception at The Selects, located at 62 Greene Street in Soho, New York City. Following the opening event, the exhibition will open to the public -- and will remain open through November 22nd.

Visitors are encouraged to experience and interact with the collections at the exhibition. A micro-website, designed as an audio and visual guide to the experience, has been created to assist in walking visitors through the space, providing additional information on the designers, artists, and products.

The capsule features a series of items that are both functional and accessible. Items on view at the “Covered” installation will also be available for purchase, both at the exhibition and online (http://ca-va.city/)

The Selects x CAVA LIFE exhibition has three components: The Art Pieces, The Digital Snack and The Bojagi.

THE DIGITAL SNACK

The digital snack zone lets visitors buy 22 digital works from a vending machine, including the sound works from musicians and video files created by video artists. The vending machine carries a variety of “digital snacks” – which, when purchased, reveal the download codes for the sound/video files.

THE BOJAGI

The Bojagi is a traditional Korean wrapping cloth commonly made from silk or ramie. Folklore suggests that Koreans believed that wrapping an object protected and brought good luck. Although a seemingly simple square fabric, Bojagi can be used to wrap things, or used as a bag or scarf. A collection of 15 artists, including painters, graphic designers and photographers, have had their work printed on a collection of Bojagi for the event.
