The Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY) and the Astoria Film Festival co-present a special screening ‘Korean Animation’ as part of the 2025 Astoria Film Festival. This event will spotlights a dynamic selection of short animated films by Korean and Korean American film directors.
From visually striking storytelling to bold, imaginative themes, these works showcase the unique voices and artistic innovation within Korea’s vibrant animation scene.

It means that the trap she prepared for the "hunting" worked well. "Elena" taking a gun to the place where the explosion happened. Her childhood memories with her father intersect and the story begins.

During Lunch break on an elementary school field day, Minsu wins a Giant fish-shaped candy(Dalgona) from a lucky draw. Even though his friends wanted a bite, Minsu decided to eat candy all by himself. Then, he got eaten by a Giant fish that suddenly appeared from the air. Discharged through Giant fish's poop hole, Minsu faces an eccentric sight as nutrients of his body are all squeezed out.

An ant and a spore cross paths with each other among countless beings, and embark on a journey together. As the spore gradually takes over the ant, the ant becomes captivated by its constantly changing appearance, exposing itself to numerous dangers. The spore yearns to be fully acknowledged by the ant and dreams of stepping into the outer world to meet the ant directly. The spore blooms into a cordyceps. It finally confronts the ant, but the ant, now lifeless, is unable to see the spore.

◆ ASTORIA Film Festival
Astoria Film Festival is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that was created to celebrate the diverse voices of the NYC community, and to celebrate the cultures they originate from. It is an international festival with a strong local and international community of creators. The Festival has 3 main divisions: Festival Events, AFFStudio, and AFFEducation.
Festival Events include the main festival in June at Kaufman Astoria Studios and Arri Rental, as well as live and virtual screenings and panels. AFFStudio employs local youth who have taken part in AFFEducation programs with social media content creation jobs for businesses around NYC, and AFFEducation provides film education workshops in local schools and community centers, where students ages 8-adult learn to ideate and create short films - from pitch to premiere.

Nina Fiore (Founder and Executive Director)
Nina Fiore is the Founder and Executive Director of Astoria Film Festival, which runs media events, media education, and media job experience programs throughout NYC, for ages 8-adult. Nina has a BA in Fine Arts and an EdM in Education and Developmental Psychology from Harvard University, and she has 25+ years of experience with content production for digital media, tv, and film, and afterschool education. Nina has worked as a Senior Producer at Nickelodeon, Noggin, Sesame Workshop, PBS, MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount, CBS, VH1, Merrill Lynch, Sundance Film Festival, Sundance Channel, and RespectAbility/Netflix. She also has over 25 years experience in After School Education, at Harvard's Mission Hill Afterschool Program in Roxbury, MA, at the Children's Aid Society in Harlem, NYC, Intel's Computer Classrooms, as part of an Educational Research Group at Harvard Medical School that worked with struggling Boston Public Schools, and as Director of Education, at Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens. Nina currently also serves as an Advisory Partner for both Motion Picture Tech High School in Queens and for the High School of Art and Design in NYC.
Bryan Korn (Animation Programming Director)
Bryan Korn is the Board Vice Chair and the Animation Programming Director for Astoria Film Festival. He is an Emmy, BAFTA, and Annie award-winning Writer/Producer of animation, currently Executive Producing the new Lionel Messi animation series at Sony Pictures Television - Kids. Prior to this, he was Executive Producer of HILDA, a much-loved and award-winning animation series on Netflix.
