Korean Film Screening & Discussion: My Heart

Seventeen-year old Soonie is married to a ten-year old son of the local Korean medicine doctor. Married to a child, Soonie is subject to the hard life of Korean traditional daughter-in-law. This movie follows 40 years of Korean history from 1920 to 1960. Director Bae dose not recreate historical moments through the heroine¡¯s life because the essence of this movie lies with capturing Soonie¡¯s life. This film was featured in several film festivals including at the Far East Film Festival (Audience Awards) and Palm Springs International Film Festival in 2000.

Guest Speaker Ms. Hyun-Ock Im will briefly introduce the film and lead a discussion after the end of the movie.
