Ki-duk Kim, Horror

The political allegory The Coast Guard stars heartthrob Dong-gun Jang as Private Kang, a South Korean soldier stationed in a remote area. Kang's obsession with performing his patriotic duty unleashes a tragedy when he fires at shadowy figures he mistakes for North Korean spies.
Ki-duk Kim is one of Korea's most important directors. His recent films have won major awards at the Venice, Berlin, San Sebastian, and Locarno international film festivals, and have been screened at the New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center.
Guest speaker Ms. Hyun-Ock Im will give a brief introduction to the film and lead a discussion session after the screening. Special thanks to Tartan Video.
