Theme: Mom is a Haenyeo

Join us for a live online program with songs, rhymes, and favorite read-aloud books in Korean and English as we show you how storytime is fun for the whole family! Open to children of all ages!

Recommended for ages 3~7, but all are welcome.
No knowledge of Korean required.

Let’s play and learn Korean!
A new class every third Thursday of the Month at 1pm

Hoeeei~ Hoeeei~ This is the sound of Haenyeo’s breathing. Haenyeo, female divers who harvest sea creatures, can hold their breath for a long time in the sea without oxygen. They hold their breath all the while until they come out of the water when they let it out all at once, just like dolphins! They’re also really good at diving and swimming, just like mermaids in fairy tales! So who are they? What do they do deep in the water?

We will read the story about Haenyeo and learn the names of sea creatures in Korean! Plus, we’re going to have fun craft time together!

Storytime is a program for parents/caregivers and their children. The parent/caregiver is suggested to be present during the entire program.

<Korean Storytime> is an online education program by the Korean Cultural Center New York and New York Public Library, St. Agnes. It deals with diverse themed stories every month in Korean and English.
