The Korean Cultural Center New York is excited to present the fourth New York K-Pop Academy this summer! This special program will consist of an intensive 4-week program plus cultural experiences that provides an in-depth, hands-on approach to learning the two key components of K-Pop, vocal and dance skills.
65 successful applicants will be selected through an online application process and placed into Class A or B, where students will be provided with 4 weeks (2 hours per day, 5 days per week) of intensive dance training. Students who apply for the vocal program will receive 2 weeks (2 hours per day, 5 days per week) of basic vocal training. Instructed by world-class faculty carefully selected from Korea, students will be able to develop a deep understanding of K-pop and in turn, Korean culture, through a fun, lively experience.
Dance classes will be led by YongJun Choi, dance director of JYP Entertainment, one of Korea’s top entertainment companies, who has also taught K-pop stars and cast members for top programs such as <Superstar K> and <Show Me the Money>, and NaLae Kim, dance trainer of Star Nation Entertainment, who has directed the dance portion of SBS ‘KPOP Star' season 1~6. For vocal classes, JiYoung Kim, who is a vocal trainer of W.I.P. Company and vocal coach for the Star Making Project 'My Live' Top 3 will join to lead.
The vocal lecture provides practical training of basic vocalizations, fundamental scales, diverse rhythms, and different genre expressions through hit K-Pop songs. The dance session starts from stretching, the fundamentals of K-Pop dance, toexpressing lyrics using sophisticated movements.
A final presentation will be held in the final week as the graduation ceremony after the 4 weeks training.
The successful applicants will be announced individually. For further information, please email The Korean Cultural Center NY at email@example.com.
Deadline for online applications are Sunday, July 7, 2019.
