The Korean Cultural Center New York is excited to present the third New York K-Pop Academy this summer! This special program will consist of an intensive 4-week program plus 2 cultural experiences that provides an in-depth, hands-on approach to learning the two key components of K-Pop, vocal and dance skills, as well as Korean culture through Korean traditional games and VR experiences.

50 successful applicants will be selected through an online application process and separated into elementary and intermediate levels, where students will be provided with 4 weeks (2 hours per day - 5 days per week) of intensive training. Instructed by world-class faculty carefully selected from Korea, students will be able to develop a deep understanding of Korean culture through a fun, lively experience.

Eui Ju Yoo, ‘Hidden Singer’ vocal trainer, who works with Korean famous singers, will lead the vocal classes. For dance classes, Sung Hee Park, the new idol developing team’s dance trainer of DSP Media (one of Korea’s top entertainment companies), and Jungeun Han, a 1st generation K-Pop idol dance trainer, will join to lead.

The vocal lecture provides practical training of basic vocalizations, fundamental scales, diverse rhythms and different genre expressions through hit/popular K-Pop songs. The dance session starts from stretching, the fundamentals of K-Pop dance, to expressing lyrics using sophisticated movements. Participating students will also learn more about Korean culture through Korean traditional games and VR sessions.

A final presentation will be held in the final week as the graduation ceremony after the 4 weeks of training.

Successful applicants will be announced individually. For further information, please email The Korean Cultural Center NY at jjo@koreanculture.org.

Deadline for online applications are Sunday, July 15, 2018.
