As part of the Global K-Zone initiative, the Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY) presents JANG & BEYOND: Korean Flavors Meet Modern Canapés, a special hands-on cooking workshop led by Chef Jiyoung Park, founder of ParksKitchen  with special support from Sempio’s Yondu Culinary Studio and Hwayo.

At the heart of Korean cuisine lies Jang (장)—traditional fermented sauces that have shaped Korean cooking for generations. From the savory depth of Ganjang (soy sauce) and the rich umami of Doenjang (soybean paste) to the sweet and spicy complexity of Gochujang (red chili paste), these essential ingredients offer endless culinary possibilities. With special support from Sempio’s Yondu Culinary Studio, participants will have the opportunity to explore the unique characteristics and versatility of these traditional Korean sauces through creative, hands-on cooking.

In this workshop, Chef Park will introduce a fresh approach to Korean flavors by incorporating these three distinctive sauces into Western-inspired canapés and creative finger foods. Participants will discover how traditional Korean ingredients can transform familiar party bites into elegant and flavorful creations.

Through hands-on cooking and tasting, participants will learn practical techniques, explore unexpected flavor combinations, and gain inspiration for bringing a Korean twist to their own gatherings and celebrations.

Perfect for intimate gatherings and festive celebrations, these creative party bites offer fresh inspiration for entertaining at home. To complement the culinary experience, participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy a seasonal soju cocktail tasting featuring HWAYO, a premium Korean soju brand, with special support from HWAYO.

Join us for a unique culinary experience where Korean tradition meets modern entertaining—one delicious bite at a time!
