Icheon International Illusion Festival (IIIF)

The city of Icheon, making clear to be the mecca of Illusion industry is on a final stretch to deliver the first-ever Icheon International Illusion Festival (IIIF) on 17 to 20 September with a vision on interdisciplinary art event which breaks down the boundary of genres and between real and virtual, technology and art, etc.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic environment, the whole 2020 IIIF events will be only available globally through several online platforms; YouTube, Naver TV, Instagram and its website itself.
It was originally intended that world renowned illusion artists would be a main part of the festival and due to the COVID-19 pandemic environment the decision came out later that they be replaced by talented Korean artists deliberately chosen. The first three days of the festival will take place at Icheon Art Hall with thirty artists on stage for two hours starting at 19:30(KST). It will be a talk show combined with several illusion performances each day and hosted by a series of famous opinion leaders, the CEO Yong-Sub Kim, prof. Kyung-Il KIM and prof. Gi-Na Yu. These info-tainment shows will be followed by the highlight which will be the main event moved to the Icheon Seolbong amphitheater on the fourth day. A variety of interdisciplinary artists with B-boying with magic, pantomime with music, progressive contemporary dance, mobile objet performance with mind-blowing storytelling, shows with VR & media art, giant puppet and drone light show with the state of the art technology and cultural contents and more are lined up to deliver illusionistic performances which will be aired live for two hours as a finale.
The Director of the Festival, EG Lee, the top illusion artist and entertainer as well will be the main MC of the show himself paired with a famous voice actress, Yu-ri Seo. His vision on the festival as director is to popularize the ‘Illusion’ as a new cultural art platform and set a new paradigm in the industry and the IIIF will be the showcase to make the first step.
