Join us in celebrating Korea’s National Foundation Day!

The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York (KCGNY) and Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY) are excited to announce the 2020 K-Pop Dance Online Competition to commemorate the 2020 National Foundation Day.

To participate, applicants must fill out an online form along with a video link that showcases their dance skills. Applicants can freely choose to perform to any K-pop song or a medley of songs.

Selected winners will be announced and their performance video will be open to the public to watch on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020.


Eligibility and How to Enter

The contest is open to US residents over 18 years old who love K-Pop and are interested in Korean culture. The Online Competition submission period is from Monday, August 3 to Monday, September 7, 2020. Only solo or duo performances are allowed for submission.

  • The dance performance video must be produced as a full version of the selected song of your choice OR a medley of K-pop songs (total video time must be at least 3 minutes long, no longer than 5 minutes)

  • You MUST include an introduction of yourself (and your partner, if applicable) in the beginning of the video (no longer than 1 minute)

  • Video Entry Format:

              - 1080p or higher resolution preferred
              - Landscape format only
              - Brighter lighting conditions preferred
              - Uploaded file name must include the first and last name of the applicant(s)

 Upon submission of your application you agree that all copyright and distribution of videos belong to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea of New York and the Korean Cultural Center New York. 

Evaluation of Entries

Evaluation of entries will be based on scores awarded by an expert panel of judges (to be announced) based on choreography and creativity, technique, and overall performance. Judges will be professional K-Pop choreographers active in Korea.

Prizes

The winners will be selected and receive awards as follows:

  • First Place (1):  certificate and award ($500)

  • Second Place (2):  certificate and award ($300)

  • Third Place (3):  certificate and award ($200)

Awards Announcement

We will accept and review video entries and announce the results to the public on Saturday, October 3, 2020 through the KCGNY and KCCNY websites and social media channels.
