Kun Woo Paik is considered one of the most important pianists of his generation.  Born in Seoul, he moved to New York at age 15 to study with Rosina Lhevinne at The Juilliard School.  Mr. Paik is a Naumburg winner and Gold Medallist at the Busoni International Piano Competition.  His international career was launched following his New York debut at Lincoln Center.  Mr. Paik made his European debut at London¡¯s Wigmore Hall, followed by a recital at the Berlin Philharmonic (1975).  Since then he has closely collaborated with renowned conductors including Lorin Maazel, Mariss Jansons, Sir Neville Marriner, Wolfgang Sawallisch, and James Conlon, and performed with distinguished orchestras: the New York Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, London Symphony, Orchestre de Paris, Berlin Symphony, and the English Chamber Orchestra, among others.  Mr. Paik is also a regular guest artist of Music festivals around the world.  In honor of Prokofiev¡¯s 50th Anniversary (2003), he performed his concertos throughout Europe and Asia.  He received a special invitation from composer Krzysztof Penderecki to perform his new piano concerto under the composer¡¯s baton.  Mr. Paik¡¯s repertoire is extensive-from Bach to Stockhausen, Busoni to Scriabin and Liszt to Messiaen . He created an important musical event with a series of six recitals in London and Paris dedicated Liszt¡¯s solo piano works.  Mr. Paik has numerous recordings.  His CDs of the complete Prokofiev Piano Concertos received both the Diapason d¡¯or and Nouvelle Academie de disque.  As an exclusive Decca artist, Mr. Paik recently released Chopin¡¯s complete works for piano and orchestra and Beethoven¡¯s 32 Sonatas.  Kun Woo Paik lives in Paris, is the Artistic Director of the Emerald Coast Music Festival in Dinard, France and was made the Chevalier de l¡¯Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government (2000).  Kun Woo Paik¡¯s 2009-2010 season includes a recital at Carnegie Hall, a performance at La Scala with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Yuri Temirkanoff conductor, and the complete Rachmaninoff Concertos in St. Petersburg.  He is also scheduled for return engagements with the New Japan Philharmonic, China Philharmonic, and Shanghai Philharmonic, in addition to recitals in France, Italy and Spain.
