Traditional Korean Art of Paper Making

Korean paper, known as Hanji, has been intimately related to the lives of Koreans for over a thousand years. Traditional Korean paper crafts possess a unique and ethereal beauty that is apparent in a wide variety of items; including lanterns, fans, baskets, and even clothes.

In class, you will discover the world of Hanji; learn about the birth of Hanji, how it is made, and the role it plays in the lives of Korean people. You will also acquire the fundamental skills needed to create your own paper works and engage with these traditional works of art. In addition, you will explore related aspects of Korean culture from ancient times to today. With your experiences, you will be able to bring added beauty into your life; you will be amazed at the infinite possibilities of Hanji. Beginners are welcome to participate!
