Are
you planning an event that would help bring Korean
culture into the mainstream?
If
so, we may be able to help. In the past, we have
assisted groups and individuals by allowing them
to use our gallery for their event, assisting
their publicity efforts, lending out equipment
(such as Korean musical instruments), and so on.
We are interested in assisting both organizations
and individuals, such as artists and musicians,
in the northeastern region of the United States.
Please contact us early in your planning process
to see if we can help you with your Korean cultural
event.

Looking
for Korean musical instruments?
The
Korean Cultural Service in New York may be able
to help your organization. Our agency has a limited
number of samulnori drumming sets (comprised of
the jjango, jing, buk, and kwaengwari) which we
can give away on a selective basis to outside
groups. To apply for instruments, please read
the guidelines and fill out the application below.
Please know that demand is very high for these
instruments and we will not be able to fulfill
every request.
Guidelines for Application:
. Preference is given to educational institutions;
however, all interested in receiving instruments
are encouraged to apply.
. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis
- apply as soon as possible for best consideration.
. Groups may receive government-funded instruments
only once every three years. If your group has
received instruments from the Korean Cultural
Service in New York or another Korean government
agency during the past three years, it is ineligible
to receive instruments.
. Processing the application may take up to
several weeks - please apply well in advance of
the time that you need the instruments.
. The Korean Cultural Service in New York is
not responsible for transporting the instruments
to your location - all transportation arrangements
are the responsibility of the applicant.
. Questions? Contact Hyung-eun Min at hmin@koreanculture.org
or at (212) 759-9550.
